A | The upcoming third season of Wednesday has grabbed attention due to a big casting announcement. The French actress Eva Green, known for her roles in films such as Miss Peregrine’s Home For Peculiar Children and Dark Shadows, will be joining Wednesday Season 3 as Aunt Ophelia, the long-absent sister of Morticia Addams.
This marks Green's return to a project under the direction of Tim Burton and introduces a new element to the Addams Family story. The show's creators, Al Gough and Miles Millar, said, “Eva Green has always brought an exhilarating, singular presence to the screen, elegant, haunting, and beautifully unpredictable. Those qualities make her the perfect choice for Aunt Ophelia.”
Green also expressed her excitement, saying, “I’m thrilled to join the woefully twisted world of Wednesday as Aunt Ophelia. This show is such a deliciously dark and witty world, I can’t wait to bring my own touch of cuckoo-ness to the Addams family.”
Aunt Ophelia was referenced throughout Season 2 but her full appearance was not revealed. Viewers caught a brief glimpse of her in the final episode, from behind, wearing a flower crown and writing the words “Wednesday must die” on a wall. In the story, Morticia describes her sister as having gone missing after losing control of her powers as a Raven. This connects with Wednesday’s own challenges in managing her psychic abilities, which caused black tears in Season 2.
The Season 2 finale concluded with Morticia giving Wednesday Ophelia’s old journal, which eventually triggered a vision of Ophelia locked in a dark room inside Grandmama Hester’s mansion. Millar explained that Ophelia’s disappearance has created a void in Morticia’s life and many unresolved questions, further stating that her return is expected to hugely impact this family. Gough said that her introduction was always intended to be surprising and to directly set the stage for Season 3.

Of the 185 patients, 67 have been discharged from hospital, while the epidemiological fence for 308 contacts is maintained, the Ministry of Public Health said in a statement on Wednesday.
Sixteen Ecuadorian provinces have been affected by monkeypox, with Pichincha, Guayas and Azuay ranking top with 63, 61 and 19 cases respectively.
The health ministry has maintained surveillance throughout the South American country and taken prevention and control actions, calling on Ecuadorians to use masks in certain places and go to the nearest health centers in case of showing symptoms.
Ecuador confirmed its first monkeypox case on July 6 in the city of Guayaquil, capital of the southwestern province of Guayas.
